Keeping families informed after surgeries
“I really appreciated getting a phone call once Martin was on the unit. I could let the family know where he was and I knew his recovery was progressing. It’s re-assuring to know that somebody is looking out for you.” Paulette Malach Family member RPIW 52
Two phone calls make a world of difference to families of admitted surgical patients at Pasqua Hospital. Families now get the first call once their loved
one is in Recovery; the second when he or she has been moved to the surgical unit. This change in practice has helped alleviate families’ concerns
about their relative’s whereabouts and improved communication amongst departments. Families also receive a handout that contains useful hospital, parking
and accommodation information.
