Mr. Andrew West

External Research Associate University of Manitoba Key Interests: asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, obesity, pulmonary function tests, pulmonary rehabilitation.

Mr. Andrew West is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and a faculty member with the School of Medicine Rehabilitation, University of Manitoba, where he teaches in the field of Respiratory Therapy. Andrew has a Master of Applied Sciences in Respiratory Science and has conducted research at the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region (RQHR) into the association of airway obstruction and body mass index. His current research interests include: community respiratory care, obesity and respiratory physiology, chronic respiratory disease, and gender disparities in both respiratory function as well as the effects of asthma.

Andrew has extensive professional experience in Canada and abroad, which includes program development, education, leadership, and clinical roles within the RQHR. Andrew is currently involved in an initiative with the RQHR Respiratory Services Department to identify resource sensitive and novel approaches to Pulmonary Rehabilitation in the community.
