Transfer of Patients to Rural Hospitals Within and Outside RQHR

25-Jan-2017

A review of bed capacity reveals considerable under capacity in rural hospitals and over capacity in the Regina hospitals. Up to 30 vacant beds are available in our rural hospitals.

There seems to be a lack of familiarity or understanding with the services provided in our rural facilities.  In short, apart from consulting expertise, specialized diagnostics, surgery, ICU and specialized physiotherapy, all services available in medicine units are available in our rural hospitals.

Please help  to transfer patients with a rural address to our rural hospitals as quickly as possible.  All we ask is that you engage our social work team and provide a comprehensive physician-to-physician handover to the accepting physician.
