Senior Medical Leaders/Practitioner Staff Affairs Review

As the Region continues to look for opportunities to support our leaders, physicians and staff, we know that conducting regular organizational reviews is one way to ensure that structure and resources are aligned to support your work.

Recent department head changes and staff changes in Practitioner Staff Affairs (PSA) have highlighted the opportunity to review the physician support structures consisting of the Senior Medical Leaders (SML – formerly the Senior Medical Office) and PSA.  The review will build upon work from 2013 that informed the current SML structure and will provide an opportunity to ensure the functions, structure, roles and responsibilities of the SML and PSA continue to meet the needs of physicians and the region.

The review is overseen by a steering committee consisting of Keith Dewar, Dr. David McCutcheon, Dr. George Carson, Dr. Gill White and Mike Higgins.  Consultants Mark Lazurko and Dr. William Hnydyk have been engaged to conduct the review which will take place between December 5, 2016 and February 28, 2017.  A final report will be delivered at the end of February which will include recommendations for SML/PSA functions, structures and roles and responsibilities.

Please note that you may be contacted to participate in a survey at some point during the review.  We thank you in advance for your efforts to accommodate this in your schedule if requested and also for your support of this process.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of the steering committee members.
