Research Office Holiday Schedule

The Research Ethics Board and the Research Administration Office (which includes Operational Approval and Contract Facilitation activities) will be closed for holidays from December 22- January 2, 2018.

NOTE: The submission deadline for the full board meeting on Monday January 8, 2018 is Friday, December 15, 2017.

New Chair of the Research Ethics Board

Effective December 18 2017, the Research Ethics Board will welcome Dr. Rashmi Pandya as the new Chair of the Research Ethics Board. Dr. Pandya, was born in Kenya but immigrated to Saskatchewan when she was young, later moving to Ontario for Graduate studies. She has worked at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt since 2009 as an Assistant Professor of Philosophy, one of a few Canadians at AUC. She worked as a sessional lecturer of Biomedical Ethics at the Peterborough and Oshawa campuses of Trent University in 2008-2009 and while in Graduate school was a teaching assistant and research assistant for courses ranging from Business Ethics, Social and Political Philosophy to Biomedical Ethics (1998-2008). Before starting Graduate School, Rashmi spent three years in Seoul, South Korea, originating and implementing an English Language program at the secondary school level and conducting seminar style classes at Yonsei University and Korea University. Dr. Pandya obtained her Doctor of Philosophy (Philosophy) at McMaster University (2008), a Master of Arts (Philosophy) from McMaster University (2000), and a Bachelor of Arts Honors (Philosophy) from the University of Regina (1995).

Dr. Pandya will be replacing the current Acting Chair of the Research Ethics Board – Dr. Jennifer St.Onge – who will begin a 12 month maternity leave. We thank Dr. St.Onge for her service as the REB Chair, and send warm wishes as she and her husband begin this next chapter of their life.

Research Ethics Board Seeking Physician Member

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region Research Ethics Board (REB) is seeking a physician member to serve a one year term. The REB meets at noon on the 2nd Monday of every month. The primary purpose of the Board is to ensure that the proposed research is scientifically valid and meets generally accepted research ethics guidelines. What Types of Services are available through Research and Performance Support?

RPS staff can assist you with all of the steps in a project cycle. There is no fee to access support from the research department. However, research that has received any type of external funding may be subject to a cost-recovery assessment. Requests will vary in complexity, but the following guidelines should be taken into consideration when requesting support services. A researcher, however, will be able to provide you with a better estimate when he/she is provided with greater detail about the study.
