Medical aid in dying

The extension of time granted by the Supreme Court for its decision in Carter v Canada which found unconstitutional the criminal code prohibition on assisted dying ended on 6 June 2016.

Thereafter, Medical Aid In Dying would be a legal service and accessibility must be possible. Few doctors are willing to provide the service. The conscientious objection of some doctors to providing the service must be and will be protected.

One physician has been credentialed by the Region to provide the service and a telephone and email address (306-766-4551 or has been set up for referrals.
