College of Medicine Updates on Strategic Planning and Undergraduate Accreditation

College of Medicine Strategic Planning

The College of Medicine has undertaken a strategic planning process that will be completed by January 2017. Through consultation with faculty, staff and students, the outcome of this work will be a plan that involves renewing its vision, mission, values, and defining our priorities until 2022. Academic and clinical faculty members in Regina are encouraged to participate in this process and help shape the future of the college in the following ways:

Clinical Care Forum: Attend the Clinical Care Forum on November 21 at Regina General Hospital Auditorium (5:30 PM – 7:30 PM). A discussion with clinical associates to discuss the value created from the interface of the college and the provincial health system will take place. Come with questions, and be ready to talk and share ideas.

Provide input: What should our teaching, learning and clinical care priorities be for the next year? How can the College of Medicine create value in the provincial health system? Share your ideas online.

Learn more by contacting Christopher Martin at or 306-966-1889, or visit the Strategic Plan website at to learn about the strategic planning process and to submit your ideas.

College of Medicine Undergraduate Accreditation

More than 100 of the college’s undergraduate medical students learn in Regina at our Regina campus located at the Regina General Hospital. In addition to classroom and clinical learning, our students are paired with faculty/clinicians in Regina on research initiatives with a goal of having a learner on most initiatives within the RQHR.

The college’s undergraduate program is fully accredited, and will be hosting a full on-site accreditation visit October 29 - November 2, 2017. The visit includes both our Regina and Saskatoon campuses. Work has begun on multiple fronts, overseen by an Accreditation Steering Committee. There are six subcommittees supporting our efforts toward accreditation success and we have representation on every committee from 13 Regina-based participants who represent medical students, residents, faculty, staff, department heads and RQHR.

The college hosted an Accreditation Launch Party in both Regina and Saskatoon on September 12—thanks to all who attended the Regina event (the food was amazing!). Preparations for the full visit also include a mock visit, February 5-8, 2017, taking place at our Regina and Saskatoon campuses and our Prince Albert site. Our accreditation website ( provides more information.
