CCA Contract Negotiations Update

21-Jun-2017

The CCA’s contract with the Region has concluded satisfactorily. The immediate impact is the revision of the Pasqua Ward CCA role change to the Pasqua Medical Officer.

In this role, the ward-based CCA, from 5:00 pm onwards, will take responsibility for all admissions to General Internal Medicine and Hospitalist Services.  The CCA will also conduct rounds on the medical wards after 8:00 pm to ensure that significant patient care issues are addressed.

This addition to the CCA role is intended to provide a safer hospital at night, thus improving care and patient outcomes.  The process will involve a physician to physician meeting (CCA, Hospitalist and GIM physician) at the end of the day and again in the early morning.

The Pasqua Medical Officer Program will be evaluated quarterly and revised as necessary.

The Region thanks the CCAs, Hospitalists, General Internal Medicine physicians, and the Region’s negotiating team for their excellent collaboration in reaching this agreement.Submitted by:  Dr. David McCutcheon, Vice President, Physician & Integrated Health Services
