2017-2018 RQHR Annual Influenza Campaign

26-Oct-2017

The 2017/2018 Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region’s Annual Employee Influenza Campaign is underway.

The Government of Saskatchewan’s Final 2016/2017 Report for influenza indicated that between September 1, 2016 and April 15, 2017 there were 1901 lab-confirmed cases, 70 outbreaks were declared in long term care facilities, 21 Intensive Care Unit admissions and 4 deaths. Those of us working in health care have a special responsibility to protect the patients and residents of the RQHR by making sure we are immunized against influenza. We should also protect our fellow workers, friends and family.

Employee influenza vaccinations will be available until November 3. The Annual Influenza Blitz began on Monday, October 23 and will run for two weeks.

As in past years, there will be flu immunizations offered at Employee Health offices as well as roving carts at the Regina General Hospital (RGH), Pasqua Hospital (PH), Wascana Rehabilitation Centre (WRC) and Regina Pioneer Village (RPV) sites. At RPV influenza immunizations/roving carts will begin on October 25th. Off-site clinics have also been arranged to serve our employees at other urban locations. After the Influenza Blitz, flu vaccinations will be available in Employee Health offices during regular office hours, Monday to Friday from 8:00 – 3:45 p.m.

Rural clinics have also been arranged to serve our rural employees. Following the Rural Flu Blitz, vaccinations will be available through Peer Immunizers at various rural sites, as well through the Rural Employee Health nurse at Employee Health Clinics.

All health care workers have an obligation to provide safe care. Getting a flu shot to protect others is part of your responsibility. Please get your flu shot this fall!

For more information please visit the RQHR influenza intranet site. Thank you for doing your part to protect everyone!
