Client/Patient Information: What to Bring to the Hospital
Please bring the following items to the hospital:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste.
- Comb and brush.
- Razor, if required.
- Slippers (or non-slip walking shoes with a low heel).
- Tissue (i.e., Kleenex).
- Deodorant.
- Soap, if desired.
- Shampoo and cream rinse if desired.
- Any special medical equipment you may use at home such as crutches, walkers, braces, etc.
- Any medication (in its original container) you have been taking. This may be placed in safekeeping while you are
in hospital. Remember to ask for it back when you are ready to go home.
- Hospital gowns and robes are provided, but you may wish to bring your own.
- If you will be having a hip or knee replacement operation, you will require:
- A good pair of non-slip walking shoes (preferably lace-up).
- Comfortable, loose-fitting, pull-on clothing, such as a sweatsuit for exercise class.
Please DO NOT bring the following to the hospital:
- Large amounts of money. If this is unavoidable, anything over $25 should be placed in safekeeping with the
Finance Office when you are being admitted.
- Jewelry. The District cannot be responsible for any jewelry (i.e. rings, watches, etc.).
- Large quantities of clothing.
- Personal TV sets are not allowed in the hospital. TV rental is available.
- Heating pads are not allowed.
The Region cannot be responsible for any articles kept at the bedside.
