West Nile Virus In 2002 West Nile Virus first appeared in Saskatchewan, since that time it continued to be present in our province. Year to year the presence of West Nile Virus cannot be accurately predicted. In 2003 and in 2007 Saskatchewan experienced large human outbreaks of West Nile virus. The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region is involved in the ongoing monitoring of West Nile Virus activity within the health region. This is done by working together with municipalities and Saskatchewan Ministry of Health. The West Nile committee is a joint committee with members from the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region and the City of Regina developed to oversee the West Nile response in the City of Regina.
