Parenting Plus Parenting Plus is a home visitation and family support program for parents with newborns in the Region, including First Nations areas. The program was developed in response to evidence that suggests that parts of the Region have lower than provincial average levels of income and education, higher rates of use of social assistance, and increasing numbers of single parent families. As well, a growing body of research supports the importance of the first years of life in development of high levels of health. Public Health Nurses, Community Health Nurses, doctors, and hospitals are an integral component in the referral process and are important to program promotion and implementation within the District.
