Environmental Health: Safe Housing Public Health, in partnership with other agencies, strives to ensure that minimum housing standards are met. Public health inspectors investigate substandard rental housing unit conditions on a complaint basis. Under authority of The Public Health Act, 1994, Public Health Inspectors may either write an order to remedy any condition that creates or has the potential to create a health hazard or condemn (placard) a house as "Unsanitary and Unfit for Occupation".
