Long Term Care Services: Supportive Residential Program

The Supportive Residential program provides an alternative to institutionalization. The residential unit offers social and rehabilitative care to individuals with psychiatric illness, behavioral problems, or substance abuse problems. Admission into the program is based on program criteria and access is coordinated by admissions in consultation with Mental Health Services and other referral agencies. The program is offered in partnership with a community agency and only available to male clients.

Individuals in the program receive:

  • on-going assessment and case management,
  • self-care assistance,
  • nutrition, laundry, and housekeeping support services,
  • assistance with scheduling appointments, and
  • medication supervision, administration, and monitoring

Fees are determined by the agency providing the service. Other costs not covered by the accommodation fee include: transportation, clothing, personal grooming items, medications and medical supplies, incontinence supplies, supplies for oxygen therapy, mobility aids, dental, vision, and prosthetic devices.

Information on this service is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. For more information contact SWADD in Regina at (306) 766-7200, or outside Regina at 1-800-667-1242.
