Long Term Care Services: Permanent Placement Permanent placement is the primary reason most people access Long Term Care Services. Individuals access permanent placement when it is determined that care needs cannot continue to be met by living in the community. Admission to a long term care bed is based on program criteria and access is coordinated through the intake coordinator in your area. The Regional Health Authority directly operates 14 long term care facilities and is responsible for funding, program development and access to 9 affiliated long term care facilities. Affiliated Sites
Individuals meeting criteria for access to a regular long term care bed in an affiliated site, generally access the first available bed in the system and then transfer to a facility of choice. A "chronological" wait list is maintained by the Regional Health Authority to ensure fair and equitable access to a facility of choice. |
