Long Term Care Services: Adult Day Support

There are six Adult Day Support Programs offered to individuals and their caregivers. These programs are designed as day support to enhance quality of life for clients who are living in the community. They promote physical, social, mental, and emotional health through structured and therapeutic programming and provide respite to family caregivers.

The program offers opportunities for socialization and recreation, meal services and health monitoring. Services include:

  • assessment and care planning,
  • orientation to the program,
  • therapeutic activity and sensory stimulation,
  • recreation and socialization opportunities,
  • spiritual care and other support services,
  • nutritional needs,
  • supervision and assistance with daily living needs,
  • some nursing care including colostomy and personal care,
  • and family and caregiver teaching and support.

Admission into the program is coordinated through the admission's coordinator. Eligibility is based on the caregivers need for relief and the individuals need for physical, social, emotional and recreational support.

The cost for day support is $7.75 per day as established by Saskatchewan Health. These fees do not cover costs associated with transportation, clothing, personal grooming items, medications and medical supplies, incontinence supplies, supplies for oxygen therapy, mobility equipment, dental and prosthetic devices, or sensory devices (i.e., glasses, hearing aids, etc.).

Information on this service is available twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. For more information contact SWADD in Regina at (306) 766-7200, or outside Regina at 1-800-667-1242.
