Health Sciences Library The purpose of the Health Sciences Library is to improve the quality of health care through provision of a knowledge based information service available to all Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region staff and students in accordance with the Canadian Standards for Hospital Libraries. The Health Sciences Library is located at the Regina General Hospital, the Pasqua Hospital and the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre. The Library provides reference and research services to meet the needs of all RQHR staff and physicians, providing access to a collection of texts, thousands of journals (print and/or electronic), audiovisual materials and other electronic resources. Members of the public can use the library during the hours posted below. Services & Policies The Health Sciences Library offers a variety of services to assist clients in meeting their information needs and in making effective use of the library's many resources in traditional and electronic formats. Reference and Research Reference staff answer questions of an informational and in-depth nature in person, by phone, fax and e-mail. Reference staff provide a wide range of assistance, including instruction in the use of the library catalogue, Voyager , Health Knowledge Network and the growing number of electronic resources accessible through the RQHR Intranet. Instruction Library orientation and instruction sessions in various subject areas and at various levels are available upon request. Instruction sessions may highlight library resources in traditional and electronic formats available in a subject area; recommend effective research strategies and how to locate relevant materials; or describe in detail a specialized information resource or database. Current awareness Tables of contents and specialized current awareness services can be delivered to your email. See the information desk for further information. Document Delivery Document delivery and Interlibrary borrowing is a service provided by the Health Sciences Library. Through interlibrary cooperation we are able to obtain the materials you need that are not in our library. This service is based on national and international borrowing conventions and is dependent upon the good will of cooperating libraries and on the cooperation of library users. Items located locally can usually be obtained in 2-3 days. Other materials may take 7-10 days. The library absorbs the costs of the loans, which can range from $2.50-$15.00/item, for work related requests. Replacement costs for lost or damaged items and overdue fines are the responsibility of the borrower. Circulation RQHR staff and physicians have borrowing privileges and must register with the library. Loan periods: All loans are subject to recall.
Fines will not be levied but after 2 overdue notices, borrowers will be invoiced for items not returned. |
