Creator of Accountable Care Unit model teaches in Regina

Dr. Jason Stein, of Atlanta, GA., is the creator of the Accountable Care Unit (ACU) model. He was hosting educational sessions on Nov. 13 and 14 to discuss a team-based approach to patient care.

Having unit-based teams with health care providers, including physicians, housed on and dedicated to one unit creates predictability and empowers care providers to build strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

Stein believes in robust ACU processes, such as the team huddle, bedside accountability handover and structured interdisciplinary bedside rounds, allow for improved team coordination, communication and accountability, and ensure patients and families are present and engaged in their care.
