Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of size based on weight and height of an individual.

It is a simple calculation where BMI = wt (kg)/ht (m²). 

BMI applies to both males and females between the ages of 18 and 65. While BMI is not a direct measure of body fat, it is the most commonly used tool to determine health risk associated with under and overweight status.
